About

Tabi Yubi was born from a simple observation: the split-toe shoe, worn in Japan for six centuries, has never really left the wardrobe of those who have tried it — and remains almost unfindable everywhere else.

The split toe

The tabi separates the big toe from the others. What looks like a stylistic gesture is first of all an anatomical one: the foot regains the grip it has bare, the step settles, the balance changes. Japanese craftsmen understood this long before podiatry put words to it.

What we do

We select split-toe models — ballet flats, Mary Janes, mules, loafers — and the socks that go with them, in a deliberately narrow range. Black, ivory, powder pink. No seasonal collection, no overflowing catalogue: a handful of pieces that hold together and keep their place in a wardrobe.

Sizes and fit

Every pair runs from size 36 to 44. The split-toe shape takes a few wears to get used to; after that it is forgotten. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
